Games of skill are also prohibited in Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. A well-regulated online gaming business has a lot to offer in terms of economic rewards. With over 65.7 million users, this industry will earn sales over Rs 29,000 crore by 2025. More than 15,000 direct and indirect employment are expected to be created. The GST council’s Group of Ministers (GoM) has been tasked with determining the rate for online games. The argument over an 18% GST rate for skill games; and a 28% rate for chance games is expected to be resolved soon.

Moreover A central government Gaming Authority should be established, and different types of self-regulation for the industry should be promoted. This authority might be in charge of the internet gaming sector, including regulating its operations, preventing societal concerns; classifying games of skill and chance appropriately, overseeing consumer protection, and combating illegality and crime.
