MLA And His Son Leaves The BJP And Joins The Congress On Monday

MLA And His Son Leaves The BJP, In a blow to the governing BJP in Uttarakhand before the Assembly elections, state minister Yashpal Arya and his MLA son, Sanjeev Arya, abandoned the party on Monday and joined the Congress.

Arya was indeed the Transport Minister of the Pushkar Singh Dhami cabinet. And he was a 6 MLA and a notable Dalit leader. He was a former president of the Uttarakhand Congress who made the BJP lose ahead of the 2017 elections after becoming unhappy with then-CM Harish Rawat’s management style. Perhaps the true reason was Congress’s unwillingness to run his son in the election. His son was appointed by the BJP in the Nainital seat, which he won.

According to sources, as a minister, Yashpal was dealing with farmer protests just a few times and was cautious about running on a BJP ticket. Entering the party may also help him gain support from the local constituency of 8% of the Muslim community.”

According to sources, Arya was not happy with Dhami’s ascension to CM. The BJP attempted to appease him. On September 25, Dhami himself went to his home for a meeting to appease him.

KC Venugopal, AICC general secretary in charge of the organization, welcomed Arya to the party. He also said, his “homecoming” proves the “wind is now blowing” in Uttarakhand’s favor. While officially joining the party, Arya and his son visited with senior party leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday.

Rawat, who spoke at the news conference alongside Venugopal, predicted that more senior lawmakers would enter the Cong shortly. It was a “homecoming” for Arya, he said. Congress has a long history of self-sacrifice, which we want to continue for a long time. “Only by strengthening the Congress can the country can enhance it’s freedom,” he remarked.
