Kerala Schools to reopen from 1st November

Kerala Schools to reopen, Kerala government has announced that schools are likely to be resumed by November 1. This decision was taken in high level covid meeting chaired by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday. The department of health and education have been directed to jointly decide the devising to be made for reopening school. After meeting it was decided that classes from 1 to 7 and 10 and 12 will begin from November 1^st. And remaining left classes from November 15 onwards. Apart from the reopening of schools, Kerala government has also decided to reopen higher educational institutes. Colleges and Universities classes will be resumed in physical mode from October 4 for the student in final semester of undergraduate and postgraduate programmed.

Primary classes will also resume

Kerala’s Education Minister, N Sivankutty, also announced that schools will be conducted in shifts. All the schools and colleges across Kerala have to strictly follow the COVID guidelines. These guidelines will be issued by the state government. Some of the mandatory rules for educational institutes include the usage of masks. Another major rule indicates maintenance of proper social distancing. Sitting arrangements will also change to make sure that they are not cramped and also make sure of proper distance between each student coming for physical classes. CM also ensured that a special type of mask will be provided to all students. 

Many teachers and parents are confused about the government’s decision, while many of them welcome it. This confusion among parents is being created because the state has reported an increment of  15.96% positivity rate after testing 1,21,070 samples. Among the 19,325 fresh cases reported on Saturday, after testing and 143 deaths were also recorded. According to the state health ministry data 1,80,842 are active cases and 26,266 people has recovered across Kerala.
