Justin Bieber Facial Paralysis has recently revealed that he has suffered from a rare disorder called hemifacial spasm (HFS), an ailment that can result in paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face and neck. HFS occurs when there is damage to the facial nerve, which leaves the muscles of the face either partially or completely paralyzed, depending on the severity of the injury. Those suffering from HFS may have trouble smiling, closing their eyes, or turning their head to the opposite side. The condition affects around 5 in every 100,000 people annually worldwide.
A lesion on one side of your brain or spinal cord or too much pressure on your nerve bundle can cause a hemifacial spasm. On other occasions, it can result from multiple sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune disease that attacks myelin, an insulating tissue around nerves in your brain and spinal cord.
Treatments Available For Hemifacial Spasm:
According to WebMD, doctors often prescribe anti-seizure medications and muscle relaxants to help control facial spasms. If those medications don’t work, Botox injections are another option. In extreme cases, doctors may opt for surgical intervention when other treatments fail. This can be done through either a nerve-blocking or targeted biopsy procedure. If you’re interested in trying any of these treatments; consult your primary care doctor to learn more about the treatment options best for you.

The pain can feel like a mild stinging sensation or a pulling in one area especially; if your neck is tense or you’re clenching your teeth. Some people may also experience an abnormal sensation on their skin, such as tingling, prickling, burning, or itchy sensations. You may feel discomfort when you touch or bite down on that side of your mouth or chew food.
