Charanjit Singh Channi conducted his first press conference after taking oath as the CM of Punjab. Moreover Charanjit Singh Channi promised a waiver on the pending domestic sewage, electricity, and water bills of the poor in rural and urban areas. Besides this, he urged the Centre to revoke the contentious farm laws. It seems that he has huge plans for the revival and upliftment of the people of Punjab.
He also promised to put an immediate termination to the mafia raj. The Cabinet on Monday will make some decisions on the inclusiveness of the sand mafia. Continuing that the government of the poor, for the poor and with the poor would run in a transparent way. He said the poor and the needy would not be humiliated and harassed in any government office.
First Dalit Chief Minister of Punjab, unusual politics
After taking over as the Chief Minister, Charanjit Singh Channi thanked the senior leaders of the Congress party for choosing and supporting him for the top post. He said that he would end corruption in government offices. In addition, he declared, “Either corrupt officers would stay or I would stay.
He also attacked the Aam Aadmi Party by saying, “I am the common man present here while other parties keep talking about aam aadmi. Additionally, he said this is the aam aadmi sarkar and I am a representative of the common man; the farmer, poor and anyone who is exploited. Channi said he’s not a representative of the rich. He added, those who are into sand mining and other illegal affairs; please don’t come to me, because I’m not your representative. As Charanjit Singh Channi is the first Dalit CM of Punjab; therefore we can expect a very different type of politics during the upcoming elections in Punjab.
