India Covid Surge in Numbers, With Maharashtra Cases Jumping 29%

India Covid Surge as Omicron, Covid-19 instances are rapidly increasing, fueling fears of the latest wave of outbreaks. On Sunday, Maharashtra added 11,877 Covid-19 cases, up 29% from the following day (9,170), whereas Karnataka saw a staggering 241% growth in the number of recorded Covid-19 cases. The state has 1,187 Covid instances as of Sunday. On Sunday, 3,194 Covid-19 cases and one fatality were reported in Delhi, with a positive rate of 4.59 percent.

For the past two weeks, Maharashtra has seen a steady increase in instances. On Sunday, the state reported nine deaths. The number of active cases has risen to 42,024, with Mumbai’s count reaching 29,819, a 1,300 percent increase from December 20. According to the report, Mumbai recorded 503 hospitalizations on Sunday, up from 389 on Sunday and 497 on Thursday. Out of 503 patients admitted to the hospital, 56 needed to be put on oxygen.

The Health Ministry reported on Monday that India has 1,700 Omicron infections. After adding 10 more instances reported in Karnataka, India’s total Omicron count now stands at 1,710. Concern has expanded to 23 different states. Karnataka’s Health Minister K Sudhakar announced on Monday that ten new cases of the Omicron type of coronavirus had been discovered. This brings the total number of Omicrons in the state to 76.

On Sunday, 7,792 cases were reported in Mumbai, up 26% from 6,186 instances on Saturday. However, the state’s Omicron count continues at 510, with 50 additional infections. Mumbai and Thane each recorded a new case, while Pune verified 36 instances and Pimpri-Chinchwad eight. Ten more Omicron cases were confirmed in Karnataka on January 2nd, taking the total number of Omicron occurrences is 76. 8 cases in Bengaluru. Dharwad has two cases. December 2, Karnataka reported the country’s initial two Omicron cases.
